Sai Sudharsan was absent when the Indian squad departed Mumbai for Sri Lanka on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The 24-year-old Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans batter sustained a toe injury during India A's tour of Sri Lanka and stayed behind to continue his recovery rather than travel with the main group.

Sudharsan has since resumed batting at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. His participation in the tour remains subject to fitness clearance from the centre, and he is expected to fly to Colombo by Saturday, August 8, 2026, as per a report from Cricbuzz.

India's squad began preparations without him, taking to the NCC Ground in Colombo on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, for their opening training session of the tour.

Which matches will Sudharsan miss on the Sri Lanka tour?

Sudharsan is certain to be absent for the three-day warm-up fixture that gets under way on Friday, August 7, 2026, and runs through August 9. The squad is due to move to Galle after that match to prepare for the series opener.

The first Test against Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2026, in Galle, followed by the second Test on August 23, 2026, in Colombo. Whether Sudharsan will be available for the Galle Test depends entirely on the fitness clearance he receives from the BCCI Centre of Excellence. No confirmation has been issued on that front as of Wednesday, August 5.

Sudharsan has played seven Tests to date, accumulating 383 runs at an average of 31.92, with three half-centuries to his name. He is regarded as a key member in Shubman Gill's Test team at number three, which makes his fitness situation a matter of close attention ahead of the Galle Test.
