The Women's Premier League (WPL) Auction returns for its fourth season, as the event ahead of the T20 spectacle is all set to be held on Thursday, November 27 in New Delhi. The schedule for the upcoming season will be announced shortly after the conclusion of the auction. However, it is certain that the entirety of the tournament will be held in January 2026, with Vadodara and Navi Mumbai emerging as potential host cities for the grand event.

The inaugural season was played in 2023, where Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive purchase, as RCB Women acquired her services for a whopping INR 3.40 crore. Nat Sciver-Brunt, who plays for MI Women, was also brought for a high price, amounting to INR 3.20 crore. With 2026 being the first year of the mega auction for the tournament, it will be interesting to see if a player gets more money than the RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana. 

In just three seasons, the league has grown into becoming one of the largest platforms in an all-women T20 competition, with its valuation crossing more than even the Pakistan-based PSL. Like the past three seasons, the 2026 season will also have five teams — Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Mumbai Indians Women, Delhi Capitals Women, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants Women, competing in a fierce battle for the biggest prize money in female franchise cricket.

For those who do not know, the 2023 season was won by MI Women, while RCB Women won in 2024 under Mandhana's captaincy. Harmanpreet Kaur returned in 2025 to lift the second title for the Mumbai-based side. Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals Women have been among the most consistent teams in the WPL history. However, they have never tasted success, as the side finished as runners-up in all three seasons thus far, which they would love to change in the upcoming edition.
