The mega auction for the Women's Premier League 2026 was held in New Delhi on Thursday, November 27. The Delhi Capitals, who have finished as runners-up of all three installments of the WPL, acquired 16-year-old Haryana sensation Deeya Yadav at her base price of INR 10 lakh.
Deeya was the sixth player Capitals picked at the auction after the likes of Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, Shree Charani, Sneh Rana and Lizelle Lee. Deeya, placed in the first list of the uncapped batters, opens the batting for Haryana and North Zone. Known for her fearless approach and audacious stroke-making, she has made waves in the domestic circuit.
She first hogged the spotlight during the 2023 U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy. She smashed 578 runs at an impressive average of 96.33, including three centuries. Her run in the tournament also comprised a double century, a rare milestone to achieve in women's cricket while playing in the U-15 age-group.
She was fast-tracked into Haryana’s U-23 and senior teams in January last year and she has not looked back since. She has played at No. 3 for Haryana in the 2025-26 domestic season. Deeya's attacking gameplay matches the aggression of ace Indian batter and Women's World Cup-winning member Shafali Verma.

She first dominated in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy while anchoring the state team's innings. Deeya scored 298 runs in eight innings at an average of 59.60. Her remarkable strike rate of 127.89 attracted a lot of eyeballs Her aggressive batting ensured North Zone got off to some dynamic starts. She was an integral factor behind North Zone entering the final.
