Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has well established himself as one of the most sought-after talents in the country. Breaking into the national team after an exceptional campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Jaiswal has played 15 matches for India across formats and has amassed 636 runs to his name.
Speaking of his performances, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar came forward to heap massive praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal. Stamping his authority in T20I cricket, Jaiswal could be a massive prospect for the future for the Men in Blue, and Gavaskar even branded him as an amazing talent.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a very good talent and brings the left-handed factor as well. He's got the boldness of youth and freshness of not being tied down by ideas of how one should play,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
He is a good all-format prospect for India: Gavaskar
Furthermore, Gavaskar went on to state that Jaiswal could be an all-format player for the Indian team in the future. Already having made his debut in two formats, the 21-year-old is yet to play an ODI game, but it could be interesting to see if that changes in the future.
“Just see the ball and hit the ball; this is what he does, and he does it so well. He's got a century in Test cricket as well. So he is a good all-format prospect for India,” Gavaskar said.
Currently, Team India is in South Africa as they take on the Proteas in a month-long tour. It is worth noting that both teams will face off in three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches to finish the tour.
They were slated to play the first T20I at the Kingsmead Stadium on Sunday, December 10, but due to rain playing spoilsport, the toss was not even plausible, and the match was called off. However, both teams will continue the series in the second T20I at the St. George's Oval in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday, December 12.
