Cricket fever grips Uttar Pradesh with UPT20 set to get off the mark

Kanpur, August 29 2023: In a groundbreaking moment for cricket across Uttar Pradesh, and India, the stage is set for the debut edition of UPT20. With six power-packed franchises vying for supremacy—Gorakhpur Lions, Kanpur Superstars, Kashi Rudras, Lucknow Falcons, Meerut Mavericks, and Noida Super Kings—the UPT20 held at the Green Park International Stadium promises to be an unforgettable extravaganza of cricketing talent and competition. The tournament begins  on August 30 with the final match scheduled for September 16. 

Beyond the thrill of T20, the most compelling format of the game, the UPT20 carries a larger significance: providing a golden opportunity for the state’s finest cricketing talents to learn, evolve, and shine on a national platform. This tournament is not merely a competition, it’s a cauldron where emerging players can draw wisdom from seasoned cricketers, imbibing their experiences and perfecting their skills.

Our players are extraordinarily talented, and this tournament is intended to bring them to the forefront.” 

The clash between Kanpur Superstars and Noida Super Kings is bound to be a riveting encounter. With marquee players gracing each team, the stakes are higher than ever. Kanpur Superstars wield the dynamic duo of Akshdeep Nath and Ankit Rajpoot, while Noida Super Kings boast the explosive Nitish Rana and India's ace fast bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 

Speaking ahead of the inaugural match, the home team’s Akshdeep Nath said, “It’s a historic moment for UP cricket, and we are thrilled to be a part of this inaugural journey. The team has a good combination of players and with our solid preparation, we are looking forward to giving our best on the field.”  

Echoing his teammate’s sentiments, Ankit Rajpoot said “We are really looking forward to the tournament. The squad has been preparing well and the morale of the team is very high, I’m sure we will have a very good season ahead of us. 

As the countdown to the inaugural match intensifies, an electrifying opening ceremony awaits, promising to be a sensory feast. Viewers will be swept off their feet by the mesmerizing performances of superstar Tiger Shroff, the musical magic spun by the Meet Bros, and the effervescent charm of Manish Paul. Adding to the spectacle is the elegance of Ameesha Patel.
