After two thrilling encounters, India and New Zealand will be locking horns for the final time in this series for the third T20I. While the visitors won the first game in Ranchi and took an early lead, India leveled the series by winning the second game in Lucknow. The two sides will now clash for the series-decider match on February 1, Wednesday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The visitors dominated India in the first game in Ranchi and clinched a 21-run victory to kick start the series on a high note. While the Indian spinners did really well, the pacers faced a tough challenge tackling the conditions. But the Kiwis were at their best with the bat and with the ball, which led to India facing a disappointing defeat.

The Lucknow pitch, in the second game, favoured neither India not New Zealand as a low-scoring thriller was witnessed. Indian bowlers restricted New Zealand to mere 99 runs in their first innings and set themselves a 100-run target. But the game went down the wire as even the Indian batters struggled to score runs. India eventually won the match by six wickets on the penultimate delivery of the match.

India’s major concern currently is the top order. Youngsters Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have failed to put up a remarkable show. As a result, the middle-order batters have to bear all the pressure. While India needs to improve in that aspect, the Kiwis will have to replicate a performance similar to the first T20I in order to win the series.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is favorable for spinners. Though it is not a high-scoring surface, the first-innings average in T20Is at this venue is 152. While teams chasing have won four games, the defending teams have won five games thus the toss won’t play a major factor in this game.

Probable Playing XI for IND vs NZ 3rd T20I

India

The Men in Blue are unlikely to make any changes to their XI. India made one change in the previous game and brought in Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Umran Malik. With the Ahmedabad pitch being spin friendly and the Indian pacers having done well in the previous game, India will continue the same combination.

Probable Playing XI- Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Rahul Tripathi, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (c), Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh.

New Zealand

New Zealand defeated India, in India, for the first time since 2017 when they won the first T20I. Though they were riding high on confidence, the pitch conditions did not favor either side. The Kiwis would be hoping to turn things around in the final game.

Probable Playing XI: Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c), Ish Sodhi, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Blair Tickner
