After decimating Australia in the second ODI of the series in Indore, India have named their full-strength squad for the final match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav will likely make their return to the playing XI, while the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc will be available for selection as well. Hence, ahead of the ODI World Cup, a cracking match is expected between two of the powerhouse of world cricket.
Meanwhile, India are likely to give rest to Shubman Gill and hence, Ishan Kishan is expected to open alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer hit a cracking century in the last match but suffered a wrist injury while batting. Hence, in the third ODI will be extremely important to prove his fitness in order to seal his place for the mega tournament.
When it comes to bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have done well so far, picking up three wickets each in the last match. Prasidh Krishna, too, did a commendable job, but with Jasprit Bumrah’s return, he may find himself on the bench. It will also be interesting to see if India stick with Ashwin or bring Kuldeep back into the XI.
Australia are currently lacking firepower in the absence of Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head. However, with their star bowlers returning in the next match, they are expected to get better and play more competitive cricket. Overall, the batting department needs to improve significantly at the moment, along with the spin department.
Pitch and Conditions
The surface in Rajkot will help the spinners, but batters can do some damage as well if they spend enough time to understand the surface. Anything over 280 runs will be a good score.
