The Indian Premier League season 16 will continue the enthrall the fans on Thursday, April 20 as Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both teams are coming into the match, having lost their previous fixture, and will be eager to make a comeback when they face each other in match 28.

Kolkata Knight Riders started their campaign with a loss against Punjab Kings by seven runs (DLS Method) but scripted sensational victories over Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans in their next two fixtures. However, the Nitish Rana-led side went on to lose their last two fixtures against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

KKR’s batters have performed exceptionally in the tournament so far, with Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer all amongst the runs. But the same can’t be said about their bowling, as they’ve conceded 180+ totals four times out of five matches. With two wins out of five matches, KKR are ranked in the seventh spot in the points table and will be eager to end their two-match losing streak against DC.

On the other hand, Delhi’s campaign has been nothing short of a nightmare so far, as they are yet to register a win in the ongoing season, having lost five games on the trot. DC have had a collective failure in both bowling and batting departments so far, as they were absolutely hammered in their first three fixtures. However, they fought well in the fourth game against Mumbai Indians, taking the game to the last ball of the match.

In their last fixture against RCB, their bowlers did well in restricting the famed batting lineup of Bangalore to 174/6 in the first innings at the high-scoring M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, their batting once again let them down as they lost the match by 23 runs. Being ranked in the last spot on the points table, DC will be desperate to register their win against Kolkata.

Pitch and Conditions

In both the matches played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the ongoing season, chasing teams have won the match. In the last T20I played at the venue, South Africa managed to chase down a mammoth target of 212 against India. The venue has historically favoured chasing teams as nine times out of 13 T20Is, teams chasing have come out on top. Hence, the captain winning the toss will look to bowl first, keeping the record in mind.
