The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are all set to host against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 36 of the ongoing IPL 2023. The two teams will square off for the second time this season on Wednesday, April 26, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli shouldered the responsibility of leading the side for the second time this season against the Rajasthan Royals. Notably, the side narrowly won the contest by seven runs as Glenn Maxwell (77 runs) and Faf du Plessis (62 runs) dazzled with the bat, whereas Harshal Patel (3/32 in four overs) created his impact with the ball.
On the other hand, KKR were handed a massive defeat at the hands of CSK, losing the clash by 49 runs. Speaking about their campaign thus far, RCB are heading into their next fixture on the back of two consecutive wins and have four victories thus far.
On the flip side, KKR have recorded four losses on the trot and will look to avoid a fifth straight defeat in Bengaluru. The Nitish Rana-led side won comprehensively by 81 runs against RCB, the last time the two sides met this season. While KKR will look to get back to winning ways, RCB will aim to win their third consecutive game and keep the momentum intact.
Pitch and Conditions
The deck at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has assistance for the batters. The smaller dimensions of the ground and the quick outfield aid the batters to score big runs. Any score beyond 190 will be a competitive total. Bowlers will need to be razor-sharp with their line and length to restrict the batting team from scoring massive runs.
Probable Playing XI for RCB vs KKR
Royal Challengers Bangalore
After returning a three-wicket haul in the previous match, Harshal Patel is likely to feature in the XI against KKR. This would essentially mean that Suyash Prabhudessai could warm the bench or be listed as the Impact Player.
Probable Playing XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Vijaykumar Vyshak
Kolkata Knight Riders
Veteran all-rounder David Wiese endured a forgetful outing against CSK in the last match. The management could field Lockie Ferguson in place of Wiese against RCB.
Probable Playing XI: N Jagadeesan (wk), Jason Roy, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana (c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Kulwant Khejroliya, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy
