The 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 features a clash between the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings and the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday, May 3.

Punjab would be coming into the game on the back of a brilliant win against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings, when both teams took each other on in the 41st game of the tournament. Due to a subpar performance with the ball from Punjab, Chennai managed to post 200 runs on the board in the first innings.

However, through brilliant knocks by Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 42 runs in 24 balls; Liam Livingstone, who scored 40 runs in 24 balls; and late pushes by Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma, Punjab managed to chase the target down and win the game.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians played their last game against the Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals, where they managed to chase down a whopping target of 213 runs. Cameron Green, Tim David, and Suryakumar Yadav put in excellent performances during the run chase. The five-time champions would hope that they could replicate their performance against Punjab and hope to register their fifth win of the competition.

Pitch and Conditions

The previous game at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium had a batter friendly surface. However, the pitch does provide some assistance to the new ball bowlers, and choosing to bowl first on such a surface could prove to be a wise decision.
