Delhi Capitals will host Gujarat Titans in the seventh match of the Indian Premier League 2023, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (formerly Feroz Shah Kotla) in Delhi on April 4, Tuesday. While the visitors will be eyeing their second win on the trot, the hosts will be aiming to clinch their first win and open their account in the tournament.
Delhi Capitals did not get off to the best of starts at the IPL 2023 as they suffered a massive 50-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 2. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans continued their form from the previous victorious edition as they handed four-time champions Chennai Super Kings a five-wicket defeat in their campaign opener.
Delhi Capitals could not make an impact in their previous clash, either with the bat or with the ball. The David Warner-led side surely might have felt the absence of Rishabh Pant as except for the team’s skipper, no other batter could put up a remarkable knock. Ahead of the upcoming clash, the home side will have a lot to work on.
Gujarat Giants faced a massive blow in their previous game as Kane Williamson had a bad fall, which led to an injury to his knee. He was eventually ruled out of the entire tournament, and the Titans will now be on the hunt to find the best possible replacement. Sai Sudharshan, who replaced Williamson as an impact player in the previous game, did really well with the bat and might continue this time again.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi usually assists the batters well, and the shorter boundaries help the power hitters to pile up runs on board. The last T20I that was played here saw both teams score runs over 200, and thus it can be a high-scoring contest.
Probable Playing XI for DC vs GT
Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals will look to make some changes in their playing XI ahead of the contest against Gujarat Titans. Now that Mustafizur Rahman has joined the DC camp in India, the team might field only three overseas players in their starting XI and might replace one Indian player with an overseas option from the set of Impact Player substitutes.
Probable Playing XI: David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan (wk), Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar
Gujarat Titans
The Titans will be forced to make one change in their playing XI from the previous contest due to Williamson’s injury. Sai Sudharshan, who replaced him as the Impact Player performed well with the bat and might as well find his place in the final XI. The team will also have the services of David Miller for the upcoming contest.
Probable Playing XI: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Sai Sudharshan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Joshua Little, Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph
