On Wednesday, June 18, two matches are scheduled to take place in the Maharashtra Premier League. The league has been heavily influenced by rains in Pune in the last few days, which could well be the case for the 26th and 27th matches of the season. While Raigad Royals will face Eagle Nashik Titans at 2 PM, Kolhapur Tuskers are scheduled to face Satara Warriors at 7 PM.

The tournament is at such a stage where a match successfully getting completed seems a bigger challenge. Eagle Nashik Titans have had two matches without a result, which keeps them at the top of the table with 5 wins and a loss, with a net run-rate of +0.904 and 12 points to their name. Their opponents, Raigad Royals, have 3 wins and as many defeats in their 7 matches with a negative net run rate of -1.109 and a total of 7 points.

In the evening game, Kolhapur Tuskers and Satara Warriors, who occupy the third and last spots on the table, respectively, will face each other. Tuskers have 2 wins and 3 losses in their 8 matches with a net run rate of -0.316 and a total of 7 points, while the Warriors have 2 wins and 4 losses with a negative net run rate of -0.516 and a total of 5 points to their name, so far.

Pitch Report

Both matches on June 18 will take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The surface is usually good for batting, with good assistance for pacers and spinners. Pace bowlers get a bit of extra bounce with some early swing. However, since the erection of roofs, the amount of swing has reduced for the pacers.

Since the black soil is extensively used at the venue, spinners have a major say on the result. The first two matches of the day will be played in the heat, where the pitch is likely to slow down. Even in the night game, the pitch might only become difficult to bat on, with the progression of the match, unless interrupted by rain.
