MPL 2025, 9th Match Review: Azim, Dhiraj lead Ratnagiri Jets to commanding win over Raigad Royals

Ratnagiri Jets registered a comfortable 67-run victory over Raigad Royals in Match 9 of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2025 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on June 10. After suffering a poor start to their 2025 campaign, Ratnagiri came into this clash after recording their first win of the season.
Putting in to bat first after losing the toss, the Jets made full use of the batting pitch. While they lost Atharva Dharmadhikari early for 23, Dhiraj Phatangare held one end with a 57 off 43 balls, smashing three fours and as many sixes with his run coming at a strike rate of 132.56.
He stitched a solid 46-run stand with skipper Azim Kazi, who led from the front with a 72 off 38 deliveries before retiring out in the 20th over. Kazi’s innings was laced with seven boundaries and three maximums. Ratnagiri finished at 187/4 in their 20 overs. For Raigad, Tanay Sanghvi, Siddhesh Veer, and Hitesh Walunj picked a wicket each.
In reply, Raigad Royals never looked in the chase. Pradeep Dadhe provided a dream start for the Jets, removing both openers Rugved More (3) and Siddhesh Veer (18) inside the first six overs. Digvijay Patil (7), Harsh Mogaveera (2), and skipper-wicketkeeper Rushabh Rathod (5) all fell cheaply.
The middle and lower order failed to stabilise the innings, with the only fight coming from Niraj Joshi (19) and Vicky Ostwal (16*). The Royals eventually were restricted to 120/9. Satyajeet Bachhav was the pick of the bowlers with 3/17, while Prathamesh Pundlik Gawade (2/28) and Kiran Chormale (2/31) also chipped in.
With this comprehensive win, Ratnagiri Jets now have four points from five games and move up to third on the points table with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.528. Meanwhile, Raigad Royals with only one win in three games and a net run rate of -2.367.
