MPL 2025 Match 19 Review: Satara Warriors clinch 14-run win over Ratnagiri Jets in rain-affected clash
Satara Warriors won the match against Ratnagiri Jets by 14 runs, as per DLS method.
The Match 19 of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2025 witnessed Satara Warriors clinching a 14-run victory via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method against Ratnagiri Jets at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on June 15.
Satara Warriors skipper Saurabh Nawale won the toss and opted to bowl first. Ratnagiri Jets had a poor start, losing openers Atharva Dharmadhikari (7) and Dhiraj Phatangare (12) early. But, Kiran Chormale held the innings together with a composed knock. The wickets kept tumbling at the other end, but Chormale anchored the innings with a calm 52 off 42 balls.
In the death overs, Abhishek Pawar’s fiery cameo of 25 runs off 10 deliveries gave Ratnagiri Jets a much-needed boost while helping them post a decent total of 146 for 9 in 20 overs. For Satara Warriors, Rajvardhan Hangargekar claimed 3 wickets for 14 runs in his four-over spell. Samadhan Pagare and Vaibbhav Chougalle chipped in with two wickets each.
Satara Warriors needed to chase 147 and had faced early trouble, losing opener Om Bhosale for 7 runs. The top order could not build momentum, but Pavan Shah kept the chase alive with an aggressive 45 from 22 balls before falling to Satyajeet Bachhav. Harshal Kate (16* off 22) and Aniket Porwal (27* off 24) kept the scoreboard moving steadily.
Satara Warriors reached 116/4 in 14.4 overs before rain interrupted play. On considering the DLS method, they were found to be 14 runs ahead of the par score, thus being declared the winners of the match. Bachhav took 3 wickets for just 13 runs in 3.4 overs for Ratnagiri Jets.
After the victory, Satara Warriors are placed fifth on the points table, while Ratnagiri Jets remained in fourth, both with two wins. Ratnagiri Jets next face Raigad Royals on June 15, while Satara takes on Puneri Bappa on June 16.
