Red Bull Campus Cricket National Finals India 2023: Ranchi and Mumbai storm through final of women's edition

Red Bull Campus Cricket has been an ardent advocate of bringing the best of talent at the college level across the length and breadth of India to a bigger platform. For the 2023 season, the National Finals for Women took place in Dehradun as Ranchi and Mumbai made it to the ultimate clash of the tournament. The four women colleges that made it to the top four in their third edition were Khalsa College Chandigarh, Rizvi College Mumbai, RTC College Ranchi, and Gurunanak College Chennai.
Here are match reports of both the semi-final of both the matches
Match 1- RTC College Ranchi vs Gurunanak College Chennai
Match number 1 of the women’s semi-final took place on June 1 at RPL Cricket Ground, Ghaziabad, and Ranchi won the match by 24 runs to storm through the final of the tournament. Chennai won the toss and elected to field first where Anamika Kumari of Ranchi top scored with 28 off 31 to help them set a target of 116/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Anupriya shined in the wickets column with three scalps to her name while conceding 18 runs in three overs.
Talking of Chennai’s innings, Sri Suveedha and N Ganishma added 24 runs each in 42 and 31 balls, respectively to make a total of just 89 runs. On the other hand, Priti Kumari and Kumari Sabita took two wickets each as the former was declared player of the match for her spell.
Match 2- Khalsa College Chandigarh vs Rizvi College Mumbai
Match number 2 of the women’s semi-final took place on June 1 at Doon Balooni Academy, Dehradun, and Mumbai won the match by a clinical margin of 54 runs to make it to the final. Chandigarh won the toss and chose to field first where Jhanvi Kate wreaked havoc with her innings of 70 runs in 33 balls to help Mumbai post 158/5 in 20 overs. Aaradhna Bisht and Parul Saini picked two wickets each for Chandigarh.
In return, Chandigarh were able to add up only 104 runs for a loss of eight wickets where Rameza Begum top-scored with 27 runs. In addition to 70 runs, Kate also took four wickets while conceding just nine to rightfully bag the Player of the Match award.
