Cricket South Africa apologises CA and David Warner

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has issued an apology to Cricket Australia and David Warner after their officials were seen posing for photographs with the fans wearing offensive masks during the play on the first day of the ongoing second Test match. The things are already tensed between the two teams after an ugly fallout between David Warner and Quinton de Kock in the opening game of the series. However, CSA has now released a statement over the matter clearing that they want to distance themselves from the officials.

During the course of play on the first day, a couple of CSA executives were photographed with the fans wearing masks, which indirectly related to the spat between Warner and De Kock. The Australians specifically were upset as the actions were targeting one of their players and they also questioned about allowing the masks into the venue on the day.

CSA releases apology statement

CSA though understood the seriousness of the matter and released an apology statement to Cricket Australia (CA) and David Warner over the same. “Cricket South Africa wishes to distance itself from the alleged action of certain officials in associating themselves with fans wearing masks representing the face of Sonny Bill Williams, which conduct is seemingly related to the Warner/De Kock incident during the opening day of the second Sunfoil Test match at St. George’s Park,” the statement read.

“While CSA respects the rights of its fans to represent their own points of view, CSA does not associate itself with these actions and urges all Protea supporters from refraining from being involved in distasteful or unwelcome actions that may impact the image of the sport and its supporters,” the statement continued.

They also cleared that the board has taken necessary action over the involved officials in the matter. “CSA has taken immediate precautionary steps against the CSA officials allegedly involved in this incident and will follow the organisation’s normal internal processes in this regard.” Also, the CSA president Chris Nenzani apologised the Australians.

“On behalf of CSA I extend my sincere apologies to the Board of Cricket Australia (CA), its officials, team management, players and their families,” he said.
