The Trans-Tasman Tri-Series had also received a lot of flak for the same reason.

Ever since the dawn of T20 cricket, it has been all about the razzmatazz and the excitement surrounding the game. And in the ongoing T20I series between the Proteas and India, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is using it as a trial ground to play music between every delivery. While music in between overs and after wickets has long been a feature of the shortest format all across the globe, the recent decision was taken in this series to go one step further and play ball-by-ball music.

During the recently concluded Trans-Tasman Tri-Series in New Zealand, which Australia won by 19 runs by D/L method also received criticism. The tournament received a lot of flak on social media last week when music was played between deliveries during a game at Eden Park.

According to Cricinfo, speaking on the same lines, a CSA official was quoted saying, “Twenty20 is played in a festive environment. It is followed by families and kids. We wanted to see if our public wants more of the music and dance. We will, of course, listen to the people and see what the survey says. If they like it, we might even get a professional DJ at our grounds for T20,” he added.

Series details

With a comprehensive win in the second T20I at Centurion, the hosts have pulled the series level, and it all goes down to the wire when the nations lock horns in Cape Town on Saturday.

Earlier, South Africa had won the three-Test series 2-1 but succumbed to a whopping 1-5 defeat in the ODI leg. Without the services of marquee batsman AB De Villiers and skipper Faf du Plessis, the Proteas have shown great character to pull themselves up and get the series evenly poised.

India have already etched history after breaking their deadlock of never celebrating a series win in the rainbow nation. With everything at stake, the Virat Kohli-led side will come blazing into the final encounter as they aim to decimate the hosts to do an encore.
