Hosts Australia will square off against Ireland in Match 31 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on Monday, October 31 at The Gabba in Brisbane. Both, defending champions Aussies and the Irish have identical numbers on the points table before heading into this Group 1 clash.

Both have played three games with a win, a loss, and a no result with three points each to their name. Ireland are placed on the third spot ahead of Australia courtesy of a slightly better net run rate.

The Kangaroos suffered a stunning 89-run loss at the hands of neighbours New Zealand in their opening encounter of the Super 12 stage. The home side bounced back with a thumping seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka courtesy of Marcus Stoinis’s brutal assault - a 17-ball half-century. The Mini Ashes fixture with England got called off due to rain in Melbourne and the Aussies now will be playing their fourth game with one match remaining with Afghanistan.

On the other hand, Andrew Balbirnie’s Irish side started their Super 12 round with a loss to Sri Lanka. The team registered a shocking five-run win (D/L) over 2010 champions England in Melbourne. Their clash with Afghanistan also got washed out and now face a tougher challenge in the form of Australia in Brisbane. Aaron Finch and his side would hope to ease past Ireland and make their case stronger for a semi-final spot.
