Bangladesh begin their T20 World Cup campaign by facing the Netherlands in Match 17 of the Super 12 Round in Group 2 on October 24 at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Scott Edward-led Dutch side entered the main draw of the tournament by defeating Namibia and the United Arab Emirates in the qualifying round with their only loss coming against Sri Lanka in Geelong.
Heading into the global tournament, Shakib Al Hasan’s Bangladesh failed to make it to the finals of the recently-concluded Tri-Series held in New Zealand as they are enduring a terrible year in T20 internationals. The Asian team has lost 11 out of the 16 matches played in 2022 with victories coming only on four occasions. Notably, they were also knocked out of the qualifying round in Asia Cup as they could not enter the main draw of the competition.
On the other hand, the Netherlands have played 10 T20Is this year and sealed victories six times. Bangladesh’s hopes rely on their experienced captain Shakib along with Litton Das and pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman. For the Dutch side, opener Max O’Dowd and Bas de Leede have been performing well in the ongoing tournament and they would hope the same from the pair in the Super 12 opener.
