DC vs MI: IPL 2026 Records and Stats at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi
The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is widely considered to be a batting paradise.
Delhi Capitals (DC) face off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 8 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital city on Saturday, April 4, in the first game of the double header.
Both sides come into the game on the back of securing their maiden wins. DC secured an away win against Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets after bundling the hosts out for just 141.
MI, on the other hand, defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders following an epic run chase. The five-time champions chased down 221 with six wickets in hand after openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton forged a 148-run partnership off just 11.5 overs.
Both DC and MI played each other twice last season, with the Hardik Pandya-led side coming out on top on both occasions. This included a 12-run victory for MI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in April 2025. Batting first, Mumbai put 205 on the board after Tilak Varma’s 59 off 33 balls. In reply, DC were restricted to 193 after Karn Sharma came in as an Impact Sub to take three wickets.
The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is widely considered to be a batting paradise. Last year saw the Sunrisers Hyderabad post a mammoth 278 on the board while batting first against KKR last year. With quality batters on both sides, fans can expect yet another high-scoring game on Saturday afternoon.
Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has had its fair share of controversies in the past. Today, it is usually a batter’s dream. A combination of a flatish pitch along with smaller boundaries across the ground makes it easy to post a good total while batting first.
The captain who wins the toss, however, does have a huge conundrum in front of them: whether to put a huge total on the board or try to chase it down. The pressure of chasing a big total could see toss-winning captains opting to bat first instead of following the trend of chasing.

DC vs MI Strategies and Match-ups
Both DC and MI are very close to each other on paper, with both sides possessing quality depth in the batting and bowling departments. With hard-hitting batters up and down the batting order, the team that bowls the best will come out on top, and both teams have excellent bowlers at their disposal. DC have an in-form fast bowling duo of T. Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi, with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel providing experience with their spin. MI, on the other hand, have Jasprit Bumrah to spearhead their bowling along with Trent Boult and captain Hardik Pandya.
MI have the upper hand over DC when it comes to their head-to-head record in IPL history. In their 37 encounters, the five-time champions have come out on top 21 times compared to DC’s 16. This includes MI winning four out of their last five games.
