Openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha struck 94* and 81 runs respectively as Gujarat Titans (GT) registered their highest-ever score of 227/2, eventually winning Match 51 of IPL 2023 by 56 runs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Ahmedabad. Quinton de Kock, who played his first game of the season, scored 70 off 41 while Kyle Mayers smashed 48 but the target proved too much for the visitors at the end.

Speaking about how the match unfolded, skipper Krunal Pandya won the toss and opted to field first. Gill and Saha shared the highest opening partnership of 142 for the Titans, surpassing their own 106-run stand against Mumbai Indians (MI) last year. Captain Hardik Pandya and David Miller scored 25 and 21* respectively as the home side also posted the highest score in an IPL game in Ahmedabad.

Chasing 228, Mayers and De Kock put up an 88-run partnership for the opening wicket before the former got dismissed against Mohit. The middle order failed to contribute for the Super Giants as they crumbled chasing the big target. With this victory, GT kept their 100% record against LSG intact as they have played four and won all of them. For his sparkling innings right at the top of the order, Gill won the Player of the Match award.
