Knocked-out teams India and Afghanistan will play out a dead rubber in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday, September 08, 2022, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Pakistan’s emphatic one-wicket victory over the Afghans the previous day meant both the Men in Blue and Afghanistan are eliminated from the competition. Having lost their respective two fixtures in this round, the dead rubber now presents an opportunity for the sides to sign off with a victory.
Defending champions and seven times winners of the Asia Cup, India started off the tournament with a bang with two back-to-back wins against Pakistan and Hong Kong. But their arch-rivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka managed to defeat them in the Super 4 stage to put an end to their journey in the competition. Like India, Afghanistan also registered two consecutive wins but then suffered defeats to the Lankan Lions and Babar Azam’s side.
