Ravindra Jadeja spun a web and wreaked havoc on the third morning of the second Test as he registered his career-best figures of 7/42 to bundle out the Australians for just 113 in 31.1 overs. Chasing a target of 115, skipper Rohit Sharma played a cameo of 31 off 20 while Cheteshwar Pujara, in his 100th Test, remained unbeaten on 31 to snatch victory by six wickets for his side. With this, team India took a 2-0 lead in the series and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Speaking about how things panned out on Day 3, Travis Head was dismissed for 43 off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin while Marnus Labuschagne lost his wicket to Jadeja for 35. From 85/2, the Aussies collapsed miserably as they ended up with only 113. Ashwin also picked up three wickets as the visitors had no clue whatsoever, yet again against the spin twins of India.
Jadeja was at his lethal best as the Kangaroos crumbled against his spin variation. India’s domination in Test cricket on home soil extended as they also scripted their 11th victory out of the last 13 in the capital city. After grabbing the Player of the Match award in the opening game in Nagpur, Jadeja bagged the same award again for figures of 3/68 and 7/42 and also 26 with the bat in the first innings. The action now moves to Indore for the third Test which is slated to begin on Wednesday, March 01.
