IPL 2024: Final, KKR vs SRH Stats Preview - Players approaching milestones, stats, and records

Kolkata Knight Riders will aim to clinch their third IPL trophy while Sunrisers Hyderabad will gun for their second IPL trophy on Sunday.

After 70 league matches and three playoff encounters, it all comes down to the mega-final of the IPL 2024. The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the summit clash on Sunday, May 26, at the renowned MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai. Both the teams last met in match 71 of the ongoing IPL which was Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad, where the Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers by eight wickets. 

Speaking about Knight Riders, Sunil Narine is in great form and is the leading run scorer for Knight Riders who scored 482 runs in just 13 Innings, at an average of 37.07 and a magnificent strike rate of 179.85. Also, Narine has smashed his first IPL century in the ongoing league. In the bowling department, Varun Chakravarthy is the leading wicket-taker for Knight Riders who picked 20 wickets in just 13 Innings with an average of 19.65 and Strike Rate of 14.40 and conceded runs with an economy of just 8.18. Knight Riders would look to beat Sunrisers and clinch their third IPL trophy.

Speaking about Sunrisers Hyderabad, the openers were very consistent as both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma aggregated 567 and 482 runs, respectively, in 14 and 15 Innings and had an average of 43.61 and 34.42 respectively, striking at 192.20 and 207.72 respectively. In the bowling department, T Natarajan is the leading wicket-taker for Sunrisers who picked 19 wickets in just 13 Innings with an average of 22.94 and Strike Rate of 15.57 and conceded runs with an economy of just 8.83 who consistently bowls at death. Sunrisers would look to beat Knight Riders and clinch their second IPL trophy.

Speaking about the last game of KKR, Venkatesh Iyer (51 off 28) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (58 off 24) played magnificent Innings which helped Kolkata to chase the target of 159 in just 13.4 overs. These two stitched a fantastic unbeaten partnership of 97 off just 44 deliveries. Knight Riders also got good support from other batters as a result they chased the target comfortably.

When it comes to bowling, Kolkata's, Mitchell Starc (4-0-34-3) bowled beautifully and came back to form in the much-needed game which helped Kolkata Knight Riders restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to just 159. Varun Chakravarthy (4-0-26-2) also bowled superbly giving excellent support to Starc. KKR also got good support from other bowlers as they restricted Sunrisers to under-par total. Knight Riders will hope that all these continue their good form for one final time.

Speaking about the last game of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Heinrich Klaasen (50 off 34) played magnificent innings which helped SRH to post a decent total of 175 in a tricky pitch. Rahul Tripathi (37 off 15) who smashed from the very first ball played a superb innings and gave excellent support to Klaasen. Hyderabad also got small contributions from other batters as a result they were able to post a decent total of 175.

Now regarding Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling, the spin twins Shahbaz Ahmed (4-0-23-3) and Abhishek Sharma (4-0-24-2) bowled superbly, which helped SRH to defend the total. Apart from them, pacer T Natarajan (3-0-13-1) bowled a scintillating spell and gave excellent support to these two spinners. Hence due to collective bowling efforts, SRH successfully defended the target without much panic in a high-pressure match.
