Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a thumping six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a high-scoring thriller in Match 58 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

After being asked to bat first, PBKS posted a competitive 200/8 in their 20 overs, riding on explosive knocks from Prabhsimran Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai. Prabhsimran continued his impressive form with a blistering 57 off just 32 deliveries, smashing six fours and four sixes, while Omarzai provided the late fireworks with a sensational 38 off 17 balls. Vishnu Vinod and Xavier Bartlett also made valuable contributions at the end, helping Punjab cross the 200-run mark. For MI, Shardul Thakur starred with the ball, claiming an excellent four-wicket haul, while Deepak Chahar picked up two crucial breakthroughs.

In response, the visitors produced a dominant batting display to chase down the target with one ball to spare. Ryan Rickelton provided a blazing start with 48 off 23 balls, before Tilak Varma anchored the innings brilliantly with an unbeaten 75 off just 33 deliveries, smashing six fours and six sixes. Will Jacks played a crucial finishing role with a quickfire unbeaten 25 off 10 balls, ensuring MI completed the chase in 19.5 overs. Sherfane Rutherford also chipped in with a useful 20 during the middle phase.

Despite Azmatullah Omarzai’s two-wicket spell and Yuzvendra Chahal dismissing Rohit Sharma, PBKS bowlers struggled to contain MI’s aggressive batting attack on a batting-friendly Dharamsala surface. PBKS suffered another setback despite posting a formidable total.
