Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips struck their respective half-centuries but rain forced the third T20l to end in a tie (by D/L method) in Napier on Tuesday, November 22 with team India sealing the series by a margin of 1-0.

The Kiwi duo helped the side in reaching a total of 160 in 19.4 overs and in reply when the heavens opened up, the visitors reached the DL par score of 75/4 at the end of nine overs which resulted in a tie on the DL method.

Talking about how the final game of the series panned out, stand-in skipper Tim Southee won the toss and opted to bat first. Finn Allen’s poor form continued as he managed to score only three.

Kane Williamson's replacement, Mark Chapman amassed a run-a-ball 12 before falling prey to Mohammed Siraj. Conway smashed 59 off 49 while the in-form batter Phillips hit 54 off just 33.

From 146/3, the Kiwis suffered a terrible collapse and got bundled out for 160. Siraj and Arshdeep Singh registered their career-best figures of 4/17 and 4/37 respectively.

Chasing 161, Rishabh Pant’s T20I record didn’t improve as he fell cheaply for 11. His opening partner Ishan Kishan also failed to contribute and made just ten. Shreyas Iyer’s weakness on the short ball continued as Tim Southee dismissed him for a golden duck.

Suryakumar Yadav mustered 13 off ten before falling to Ish Sodhi as his 200th scalp in international cricket. Captain Hardik Pandya looked in good touch for his unbeaten innings of 30 off 18 before it started to pour down heavily and the game ended in a tie.

The visitors won the series 1-0 due to their victory in the second T20I by 65 runs. Siraj grabbed the Player of the Match award while Suryakumar won the Player of the Series award.
