Sri Lanka (SL) and New Zealand (NZ) will lock horns against each other in match number 41 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on 9th November 2023 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

New Zealand come into the contest on the back of four consecutive defeats in the last four games while they won the first four games. With four wins and four losses in eight games, they are in fourth position in the points table thanks to their good NRR. Their losses were very close in all games except the game against South Africa.

Rachin Ravindra has been impressive for New Zealand as he has aggregated 523 runs in eight innings while Kane Williamson has scored fifties in both games played. Mitchell Santner has been their go-to bowler picking up 14 wickets while Trent Boult has picked up 10 wickets. New Zealand now need to beat Sri Lanka to confirm their berth. They still can qualify for the Semi-finals even after losing to Sri Lanka if both Afghanistan and Pakistan lose their final game.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, come into the contest on the back of an awful tournament, they had a lot of injury concerns in the tournament and have played a total of 18 players in this World Cup, the most by any team. They have won two games out of six and stand in eighth position in the points table. A win in the final game will certainly ensure their Champions Trophy Spot while they still can qualify to Champions Trophy 2025 if other results go their way.

Sadeera Samarawickrama has been their go-to batter as he has aggregated 372 runs in eight games while Pathum Nissanka has scored 330 runs in eight games. In the bowling department, Dilshan Madushanka has been in different zone picking up 21 wickets in 8 games while Kasun Rajitha has picked up eight wickets. Angelo Matthews in the last game became the first batter to be dismissed on Timed-out in 146 years of international cricket. Sri Lanka would look to confirm their Champions Trophy berth with a win.
