Pakistan will host England for a seven-match T20I series, their first in the subcontinent nation, putting a halt to a hiatus of 17 years. The hosts are still licking their wounds after a disappointing loss to eventual winners Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup final. While the visitors struggled in white-ball cricket for the entirety of the English summer.
The lengthy T20I series will commence on the 20th of September in Karachi as both teams look to test their preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup next month. The teams will make the journey to Lahore for the last three matches of the series.
Jonny Bairstow's injury was a huge setback for the English team ahead of the much-anticipated series, while the recovering white-ball skipper Jos Buttler is also unlikely to feature in the subcontinent. Buttler's deputy Moeen Ali will lead the side in an emotional return for the all-rounder, who has roots in the country.
The matches will take place amidst tight security as the PCB are taking no risks pertaining to the security of the players. Pakistan will be without their star pacer Shaheen Afridi, who is continuing his rehabilitation, following his knee injury. The Men in Green have persisted with almost the same squad that came up short in the recently concluded Asia Cup final.
