Liam Livingstone’s 82* went in vain as Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav smashed 75 off 41 and 66 off 31 respectively to help Mumbai Indians (MI) defeat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in a high-scoring in Mohali. With this, MI successfully chased down their second-highest target of 215 in the league.

Talking about how the game unfolded, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. Prabhsimran Singh got dismissed for just nine while skipper Shikhar Dhawan made 30 off 20. Livingstone and wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma joined hands to stitch an unbeaten 119-run stand for the fourth wicket. Livignstone racked up an unbeaten 82 off just 42 with seven fours and four maximums, his first fifty since returning from injury last month and his highest IPL score, while Jitesh amassed an unbeaten 49 off 27 as the Kings reached 214/3. Pacer Jofra Archer delivered his most expensive spell of 0/56 in the IPL.

In reply, Rohit recorded his 15th duck in IPL as he got out in the first over. Cameron Green mustered 23 before getting dismissed against Nathan Ellis. Meanwhile, Ishan and Suryakumar then stole the show with their powerful hitting as the duo 116 runs for the third wicket. Both eventually got out, but Tim David and Tilak Varma then remained not out on 19 and 26 runs respectively to take their side over the line. Kishan won the Player of the Match award for his half-century.
