Royal Challengers Bengaluru will host Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of Indian Premier League 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This will be the third match for RCB and second match for KKR in this year's IPL.  Both teams maanged to win their last match and will be hoping to keep the momentum going.

In the sixth match of IPL 2024 held at this stadium, RCB pulled off a chase of 174 against Punjab Kings going into the last over. Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik were among the runs and both teams can hope their newfound form can let RCB hold on for one more win.

KKR on the other hand got run very close by SRH in their opening game at the Eden Gardens and managed to win only by four runs after setting a mammoth 208. KKR will hope that their batting can keep the momentum going at the Chinnaswamy.

Coming to these two teams, neither qualified for the playoffs last year and the last time these two teams met was at this very stadium where KKR won by 21 runs after setting a target of 201. In fact, KKR have won each of the last 5 encounters between these two teams at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bnegaluru. The last time RCB beat KKR in Bengaluru was in a rain-curtailed affair in 2015.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report

Like always, the M Chinnaswaamy Stadium can be expected to be very flat and give very high totals although Punjab Kings were restricted to just 174 which RCB chased down quite easily. Maybe KKR's batting firepower will showcase the true flat nature of this pitch. And flat pitches have been a general pattern since last year. All in all it might not be a 200-220 pitch but both teams carry enough firepower inn their batting to make it look like one.

RCB vs KKR Strategies & Match-ups:

The easy strategy on a pitch likely to be as flat as the one in Bengaluru is bat first, put up a big total and let scoreboard pressure do the rest. While it is possible to chase high totals, they are few and far between and while bowling first, the opposition needs to be constricted to a total as close to par as possible. The important match-ups for this game are: Sunil Narine vs Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj vs Shreyas Iyer, Yash Dayal vs Phil Salt.

RCB vs KKR Player Battles to Watch Out For:

Virat Kohli vs Sunil Narine:

The two pillars of their teams have come across each other in 15 different innings where Narine has dismissed Kohli 4 times in 106 deliveries for as many runs. An average of 26.5 but at a strike rate of just 100 makes Narine the optimal option to shut Kohli down.

Mohammed Siraj vs Andre Russell:

Rather surprisingly, Andre Russell's mighty strikes have fallen quite quiet against Mohammed Siraj in the IPL. In the 6 innings that these two have come across each other, Russell has scored just 22 runs in 19 balls against Siraj. He has also been dismissed twice in this period. This matchup will play a crucial role in the deaath overs during KKR's innings.

X-Factors for RCB vs KKR:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru:

Mohammed Siraj enjoys a good record against not just Andre Russell, but other KKR stalwarts like Shreyas Iyer and Vekatesh Iyer as well. His battles against such important figures of the KKR line up will decide the course of this encounter.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Sunil Narine will be an important figure in constricting the hard hitters lik Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green annd Glenn Maxwell in the RCB batting line-up. When SRH scored 204 in a chase of 208, Narine conceded just 1/19 in his four overs. This makes him the single biggest threat to RCB in their pursuit of a winning total.
