India’s all-format and Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma turned 36 on April 30, 2023. The right-handed batter was born in the year 1987 in Nagpur in Maharashtra state. Rohit has come a long way as has been enjoying an illustrious and glorious career ever since making his debut internationally and in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He made his debut for India on the international stage in a one-day international against Ireland in Belfast in 2007. He did not get a chance to bat in his maiden appearance for the Men in Blue but smashed a half-century in just his fourth ODI against Pakistan in Jaipur the same year.
Rohit’s talent got more noticed when he played a solid knock of 66 off 87 against Australia in the first final of the CB series in Sydney in 2008. He along with legendary Sachin Tendulkar (117* off 120) helped Team India in sealing that summit clash eventually winning the best of the three finals 2-0. The Mumbai batter’s T20 debut came against England in Durban in the T20 World Cup.
Finally, after a long wait, he got a chance to prove his mettle in the Test format as he donned the white jersey for the first time against West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2013. Notably, he struck a magnificent 177 on his Test debut which got followed by another ton in the second game of the series at his home ground in Wankhede.

His five centuries in the 2019 World Cup were crucial in India reaching the semi-final of the marquee tournament. He ended the campaign as the highest run-getter with 648 runs in just nine innings at an average of 81.00. Speaking about his achievements with MI, he is the only player in the history of the IPL to have won the trophy six times.
