Both sides will look for a victory to qualify in the next round in a winner takes it all contest
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will lock horns in a virtual knock-out encounter in Match 5 of the Asia Cup 2022 on Thursday, September 01, 2022, at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The other side from Group B, Afghanistan have already secured their place in the Super 4 round by beating both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh handsomely by eight and seven wickets respectively.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh had no answers against an in-form Afghanistan side who are looking like a real threat for the title. The finalists of the last two Asia Cup competitions, in 2016 and 2018, Bangladesh have a new captain in the form of experienced Shakib Al Hasan, who would look to take his side over the line against struggling Sri Lanka, who have lost ten out of the 12 T20 internationals they have played in 2022. The winner of this game gets the ticket to the next round, Super 4 while the loser faces elimination.
