Sri Lanka are gearing up to host Afghanistan for a one-off Test starting on February 2, 2024, at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The hosts enter the contest as firm favourites, having excelled in this format in recent times.

Dhananjaya de Silva, a long-standing pillar of Sri Lankan cricket in the longest format, is set to lead the team for the first time, with Kusal Mendis serving as his deputy. Lahiru Udara, Chamika Gunasekara, and Milan Rathanayake are all poised to make their debuts for the island nation. Sri Lanka's focus will be on using this game as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Bangladesh series.

On the flip side, Afghanistan approach the contest without their senior pro, Rashid Khan. Eager to put behind the memories of their last Test in June 2023, where they suffered a colossal defeat against Bangladesh, losing by 546 runs, Afghanistan are introducing a few fresh faces into the lineup. Despite these challenges, Afghanistan will be resolute in their intent to upset the hosts in this one-off Test.
