Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Narayan Jagadeesan is in tremendous form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 26-year-old on Monday, November 21, became the first player in history to score five consecutive hundreds in List A cricket. He overtook former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa's Alviro Petersen and Karnataka opener Devdutt Padikkal, all of whom have 4 successive tons in the 50-over format of the game.

Coming back to Jagadeesan, in his latest innings against Arunachal Pradesh, the wicket-keeper batter smashed 277 runs off 141 deliveries, which eventually helped him register the highest individual run score in the history of List A cricket. Along with Sai Sudarshan (154 runs), Jagadeeshan helped Tamil Nadu post a mammoth total of 506 runs after 50 overs.

Jagadeesan broke Rohit Sharma's long-standing record

Jagadeesan with his inch-perfect innings now ranks number one in the list of highest individual scores in the history of List A cricket. The opener surpassed former Surrey batter Alistair Brown’s record, who scored 268 runs off 160 deliveries against Glamorgan in 2002. Brown had smashed 30 fours and 12 sixes and held the record to his name for 20 long years.

India captain Rohit Sharma’s name comes third in the list of top run-scorers in List A cricket. The now 35-year-old cricketer stunned the cricketing world with his powerful knock of 264 runs off 173 deliveries against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in 2014. This still remains to be the highest individual score in One Day Internationals.

Aussie opener D’arcy Short stands fourth in the list of highest individual run-scorers in List A cricket. In a game against Queensland in Sydney, Short smashed 257 runs off 148 deliveries, which eventually helped Western Australia win the match by 116 runs.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan comes fifth on the list. Popularly known as ‘Gabbar’, Dhawan in 2013 amassed 248 runs in 150 balls against South Africa A. With a strike rate of 165.33, Dhawan registered 30 boundaries and seven over-boundaries in his innings. Courtesy of his impeccable innings, India A won the match by 39 runs.
