Cricketers queue up to wish Cheteshwar Pujara on his 32nd birthday

Several current and former players of Team India wished Pujara on Twitter on his birthday.

Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara celebrated his 32nd birthday today. The cricket fraternity poured in warm wishes for the right-handed batsman from Saurashtra on Twitter. Pujara, who in the last 5 years has been the backbone of India’s batting line up in Test cricket, is amongst the popular members in Team India. The dependable batsman will join the Indian team for the Test series in New Zealand soon and will be looking to continue his form much like he did in Australia last year.

Pujara was adjudged the player of the series in the Test series against Australia and played a vital role in helping India win the Test series 2-1. He was the highest run-scorer in the series, with 521 runs in 7 innings at an average of 74.43. Pujara is in the prime of his career at the moment and will look to score many more runs for India in the World Test Championship in 2020.

Wishes galore for the birthday boy Cheteshwar Pujara

Several current and former players of Team India wished Pujara on Twitter on his birthday. From Ravichandran Ashwin to Mohammad Kaif, everyone acknowledged his sensational career and wished him a very happy birthday.

The great off-spinner Ravi Ashwin who has closely followed Pujara’s career over the year wished his teammate and posted a tweet. Ashwin wrote “Many more happy returns of the day @cheteshwar1, wishing you a great year ahead”. Another spinner Kuldeep Yadav also wished Pujara and tweeted, “Wishing you a very happy birthday @cheteshwar1 bhai, hope you have a good year ahead”.

Former Indian player Mohammad Kaif also sent his birthday wishes and called Pujara ‘an absolute batting great of this generation’. Kaif tweeted “Many more happy returns of the day to an absolute batting great of this generation @cheteshwar1. India is lucky to have someone like you wish you lots of success in the coming years.”

Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha also wished his teammate on Twitter and congratulated him on his birthday. Saha tweeted “Happy birthday @cheteshwar1! May you gifted with life’s biggest joys and never ending bliss. #Happybirthday #Cheteshwarpujara”.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) described pujari as ‘epitome of class, composure and technique’ and posted a tweet on their official Twitter account. Pujara has so far scored 5740 runs in 72 matches in Test cricket at an average of 49.48, and was also the second-highest run-getter for India in Tests in the last decade, standing only behind Virat Kohli.
