Cricketing fraternity condemns the serial blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday

Reportedly 160 people have lost their lives while 360 are injured.

Sunday started on a horrendous note for Sri Lanka as the serial blasts in two churches and three five-star hotels have reportedly led to 160 people losing their lives. As many as 360 people are injured in this ghastly incident. It was the occasion of Easter as a lot of people were praying in Church when the blasts took place at 8:45 AM in the morning. Everyone is left shocked with it even as the cricketing fraternity has strongly condemned the attack on the innocent people.

The death toll is expected to rise as the explosions hit three high-end hotels in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka, where a church was also targetted. Moreover, two additional churches were also hit in Colombo and the other in the Eastern part of the country in Batticaloa.

Soon after the blasts, the Army has deployed its 200 troops in Sri Lanka. While no one has claimed responsibility for this attack so far, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for an emergency meeting. It has also been told that the schools will remain closed on Monday following the serial blasts in the country.

Kohli, Rohit and many condemn

Not only Sri Lanka but the whole world is left shocked with this incident and the cricketers around the world are no different. The former Sri Lanka cricketers expressed their disappointment over the same and prayed for the families of the ones who lost their lives. Even the Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, VVS Laxman and Suresh Raina prayed for the safety of Sri Lanka and condemned the attack.

“Shocked to hear the news coming in from Sri Lanka. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy. #PrayForSriLanka,” Kohli’s tweet read.
