The cricketing world today woke up with excitement as the Boxing Day matches kicked off. Three much-awaited games in three different parts of the world began with fans thronging the stadiums in huge numbers. The Melbourne Cricket ground hosted the 2nd Test between Australia and Pakistan, the opening ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh started off at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch while Sri Lanka entered the Test series against South Africa in Port Elizabeth.

Johan Botha was happy to see some support in his former country South Africa and shared a fans holding a placard bearing his name at Port Elizabeth. The MCG was chanting Nice Gary to motivate Nathan Lyon. The off-spinner responded well and produced a ripper to dismiss Sami Aslam and enthral the crowd.

Isa Guha lauded Adelaide Strikers’ Sophie Devine for his belligerent unbeaten ton which helped Adelaide Strikers chase down 144 against Hobart Hurricanes. Devine, the New Zealand cricket and hockey dual international, smashed 103* from just 48 balls, including 88 runs in boundaries from eight sixes and 10 fours, as Adelaide reached 146/3  in 16.3 over overhauling Hobart Hurricanes 144 runs target.
