Match 22 of the on-going IPL 2020 witnessed Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Kings XI Punjab at Dubai International Stadium. After electing to bat first, SRH’s batting show was anchored by Jonny Bairstow who slammed a quick-fire 97. Weaving his blistering innings around 7 fours and 6 sixes, the England international decimated KXIP’s bowling force. He was also assisted by skipper Warner’s 40-ball 52.

However, the sudden departure of the duo led to a considerable drop in SRH’s run-flow. Two youngsters– Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh– stole the limelight by scalping three and two wickets respectively. KXIP managed to dent SRH’s run-flow but the Orange Army did manage to cruise past the 200-run mark in the end. Kane Williamson vital 10-ball 20 helped the Hyderabad side in amassing a 201-run total on the scoreboard.

In response, KXIP’s batting unit collapsed like a stack of cards. No batsman apart from Nicholas Pooran managed to amass runs on the board. The left-hander smashed seven huge sixes and a boundary to reach his 50 off just 17 deliveries. However, KXIP’s wickets kept falling at regular intervals and they were eventually wrapped up by SRH on a meagre 132.

Punjab have had a dismal IPL 2020 so far, having amassed just one victory from six games. While Twitter heaped praise on SRH for their emphatic victory, KXIP were trolled for their woeful run in the tournament. They’re now sitting at the bottom place with only two points in six games.
