Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today
Here's how the cricketers spent their day on social media platforms.
Exactly one year ago, millions of hearts were shattered after India suffered an 18-run defeat against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. The ‘MS Dhoni run-out’ was the final nail in the coffin as India crashed out of the showpiece event. The Men in Blue could only gather 221 runs in 49.3 overs while hunting 240.
Millions of fans’ hearts were broken after they saw a teary-eyed MS Dhoni walking back to the pavilion after getting run out. Many cricketers and fans rued the heartbreaking defeat as they remembered the semi-final loss. Ravindra Jadeja, who had scored 77 off 59 deliveries in the encounter, also took it to Twitter to remember the upsetting defeat.
Meanwhile, wishes also poured in for Sunil Gavaskar, who celebrated his 71st birthday on Friday. BCCI and ICC also paid tribute to the Indian legend, who was the first batsman to reach 10,000 Test runs. The stalwart was also a part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning side.
Gavaskar played 125 matches during his Test career and scored 10,122 runs at an average of 51.12. In One-day Internationals, the prolific batsman played 108 matches and scored 3,092 runs at an average of 35.13.
In the absence of cricket, many players have been keeping themselves fit by training indoors or outdoors. Suresh Raina, who has been sweating it out amid the pandemic, shared a hilarious clip while taking ice bath post the practice. It was none other than youngster Rishabh Pant who joined Raina in his ice bath.
