The cricketing trends on Monday mainly revolved around three topics. While IPL is an obvious one, the two other major discussions were about the World Cup 2019. India and Australia announced their squads for the quadrennial event and the analysts and the former cricketers shared their thoughts about the same. Rishabh Pant was omitted from India’s squad which has raised many questions.

Selectors cited that keeping is the reason behind the omission which has raised several questions. Aakash Chopra questioned if India was fielding an inferior keeper in the Tests. Both Subramaniam Badrinath and Kevin Pietersen felt that India were a seamer short. Sanjay Manjrekar questioned Dinesh Karthik’s inclusion since he hasn’t represented the team since January.

The other trends revolved around the Australia squad. Michael Clarke and Harsha Bhogle felt that the Kangaroos have picked a strong team in defence of the title. However, the latter opined that dropping Peter Handscomb was slightly unfair. Brad Hogg put up a tweet immediately after Jason Behrendorff dismissed Virat Kohli and seemed to be excited about this contest in the World Cup.
