The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the second day’s play between Australia and India in Perth. After skittling out Australia for 326 early in the morning, Team India was struggling at 8/2 at one stage but then Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara played out patiently after which Ajinkya Rahane joined hands with the skipper and remained unbeaten until the end.

Virat scored a brilliant half-century and is looking good for his 25th Test ton while Rahane is batting on 51. India are 172/3 and are still 54 runs behind Australia‘s total in the first innings. Many felt that the second new ball will be crucial for the hosts while also praising the captain fantastic for his exceptional knock under huge pressure. The former cricketers also praised Rahane for the way he lent support to Kohli and took pressure off him during the crunch situation in the game.

Meanwhile, India and Sri Lanka played out a thriller in the final of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Sri Lanka, after opting to bat first, posted a decent total of 270 runs on the board and India were down and out at 127/6 at one stage. But Shams Mulani and skipper Jayant Yadav added 107 runs for the seventh wicket. But the duo was dismissed in the 47th over to turn the game on its head. But Atit Sheth batted gamely only to leave three runs adrift of the victory in the end.
