The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The third Ashes Test between England and Australia is currently underway at the Headingley in Leeds and the hosts are in grave danger. At the stroke of Lunch on Day three, the visitors set the Three Lions a massive target of 359 to chase in the fourth innings. The opening pair of Jason Roy and Joe Root didn’t get out before Lunch, but couldn’t survive the heat thereafter. Josh Hazlewood found Rory Burns’ outside edge to strike first blood.

Thereafter, Pat Cummins nipped out Jason Roy, whose poor run of form continued. Dean Jones, the former Aussie cricketer, felt that the track in Headingley is one where a batsman is never set and can get out anytime. In the first innings, the Brits were shot out for 67 after Hazlewood’s five-wicket haul. After seeing Roy and Burns perish cheaply, Michael Vaughan got extremely worried and it was pretty understandable. The retired English skipper pleaded the home team to cross at least 67.

Marnus Labuschagne, who came in as a concussion substitute for Arun Jaitley, the former Indian finance minister, breathed his last and the whole nation is immersed in sadness. A number of cricketers were saddened by the massive loss. Gautam Gambhir called Jaitley, also a former president of the DDCA, a father figure. Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, remembered the day when Jaitley visited his home and paid condolences after his father passed away.
