The cricketing trends across the social media was dominated by the India-West Indies encounter that took place in Guwahati. The Indian contingent led by their ever impressive Virat Kohli romped through a humongous 323-run target with ease, stamping their authority as the best chasing side in the world.
Batting first, Shimron Hetmyer registered his first ODI ton, spanking the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground. He finished with a scintillating 106 off just 78 deliveries, which includes 6 fours and 6 sixes. The Windies registered 322 runs in their 50 overs and Chahal returned with figures of 3/41 for the hosts.
In reply, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made a mockery of the run chase by registering a 246-run partnership for the second wicket. Both the batsmen registered three-figure scores as India won the game comfortably by 8 wickets and 41 balls to spare. Kohli scored 140 off 107 balls whilst Rohit remained unbeaten on 152 off 117 balls.
In the other parts of the world, the Afghanistan Premier League, after entertaining the cricketing audience in the last 15 odd days, is finally coming to an end on Sunday. Rashid Khan’s Kabul Zwanan and Mohammad Nabi’s Balkh Legends will tackle each other in the finals and this promises to be one hell of an encounter.
Without a shadow of a doubt, both these sides were the two best teams of the tournament and it is fitting that both these sides are facing each other in the final. The spotlight will remain on Chris Gayle and Rashid on either side as the fans prepare for one blockbuster encounter at Sharjah.
