The cricketing trends on social media revolved today around England’s historic series whitewash over Sri Lanka in Colombo in the three-match Test series. A lot of current and former England cricketers expressed their delight over the sensational achievement of the team under the captaincy of Joe Root. Though Sri Lanka tried their best with Kusal Mendis and Malinda Pushpakumara resisting a little too much for England’s comfort, the defeat looked inevitable for them on the third day itself.

Yasir Shah also hogged limelight on the day as he picked a superb eight-wicket haul to dismantle New Zealand in the first innings. He ended up with the magical figures of 8/41 as the Kiwis collapsed to 90/10 from being comfortable at 50/0. The leggie continued to hurt the opposition by picking two more wickets in the second innings as well. He snaffled the likes of Kane Williamson and Jeet Raval while Taylor and Latham continued to roll along bravely on a turning pitch.

The Indian cricketers, meanwhile, remembered the heroes of 26/11 Mumbai attacks as it was the tenth anniversary of the unfortunate incident. Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar lauded the brave Mumbai Police and the men who lost their lives while trying to shot down the terrorists and hailed them.
