The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the ongoing match 35 between Sri Lanka and South Africa in the World Cup. It was the first match of the ongoing event at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street and the crowd filled the stadium. However, they were left with witnessing a one-sided game. Dwaine Pretorius shined with the ball returning with the figures of 3/25 in his 10 overs and the fraternity praised him.

The former India cricketer RP Singh was delighted to see the South African pacers stepping up and had some special words for Pretorius. Even Kagiso Rabada was brilliant on the day and finally delivered on the promise post too much criticism over the last few days. South Africa chased down 204 easily in the second innings to finally register their only second win of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara exchanged pleasantries on Twitter during the Sri Lanka-South Africa. The latter was spot on with his pitch behaviour prediction and the former Australian cricketer couldn’t stop praising him. In response, Sangakkara also acknowledged him and hoped all is well on his side.

Lankans failed to live up to expectations against South Africa as they lost the game by nine wickets. Both Proteas and Sri Lanka are already out of the tournament and it will be exciting to see who will take the remaining three spots for the semi-finals in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
