The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around crucial England vs India clash at the World Cup in Birmingham. While the whole of Asia was supporting the Men in Blue, there was an air of excitement around the cricketing fraternity as well about the match. England were in a must-win situation and for the likes of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, India wanted to win.

However, the flat pitch on offer saw England batting first and Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow literally ripped apart the Indian bowling attack. The duo added 160 runs in 22 overs for the first wicket and at one stage, it looked like India won’t pick a wicket. While Roy got out after getting to his half-century but Bairstow who was lucky early carried on the good work and slammed his first World Cup century.

The fraternity was all praise of England’s batting as they stood up when it mattered the most. Ben Stokes also played a brilliant knock to give the team a much-needed push in the death overs. England scored 92 runs in the last 10 overs but Jasprit Bumrah was all class and all the former cricketers didn’t tire praising him. Bumrah is the World’s number 1 bowler and he proved it again on the day.
