The cricketing trends on social media revolved mostly around the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. On Sunday, India and Pakistan faced off at the Old Trafford in Manchester and the former came out trumps by 89 runs (DLS Method) and moved to the third position of the points table. After the Men in Blue put on 336 in their 50 overs, Pakistan could only manage 212 for the loss of six wickets in 40 overs.
Rohit Sharma scored his 24th ODI ton and the knock set the platform for India’s seventh victory over Pakistan in the World Cup. From Pakistan, only Fakhar Zaman scored a half-century. Kedar Jadhav, who didn’t get a chance to bat or bowl, sounded delighted for the Men in Blue. Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up the crucial wickets of Fakhar and Babar Azam, was also over the moon after India’s splendid performances.
Virender Sehwag was disappointed though after another World Cup match between the arch-rivals turned out to be a one-sided affair. Meanwhile, a number of eminent personalities graced their presence in yesterday’s clash. Brian Lara posted a picture and loved being at the venue. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was also present and Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan, uploaded a picture along with the actor.
After the match, Sanjay Manjrekar shared an analysis video on Instagram. Nasser Hussain was awestruck by the supporters’ behavior at the venue. Meanwhile, Bangladesh and the Windies locked horns at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. The Caribbean team racked up 321 on the board in their 50 overs.
Shai Hope scored 96 off 121 balls and fell prey to Mustafizur Rahman. RP Singh felt that Hope deserved the century. Former Sri Lankan commentator Russel Arnold felt that Bangladesh should win the match.
