The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The 2019 edition of the World Cup is currently taking place and the first three games turned out to be completely one-sided. In today’s first match at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, New Zealand and Sri Lanka faced off and it turned out to be a drab affair. The Black Caps comfortably won the contest by 10 wickets with 33.5 overs to spare.

Matt Henry, who went for over 100 runs in the warm-up versus the Windies, became the Player of the Match for his three-wicket haul. He got rid of Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis to push the Lankans on the backfoot. Martin Guptill and Colin Munro scored half-centuries and made sure that the Black Caps script a thumping victory. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra sounded worried by the one-sided affairs.

Former cricketer Scott Styris congratulated Kane Williamson and Co for the resounding performance. RP Singh felt that Henry’s spell almost decided the fate of the encounter. Dimuth Karunaratne’s half-century in the game went in vain. In today’s second encounter, Afghanistan and Australia faced off at the County Ground in Bristol and Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane wished the Afghans for the game.

Sanjay Manjrekar feels that Australia has a strong bench strength with the likes of Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh and Kane Richardson not playing. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik turned 34 today and the cricketing fraternity wished him. Kedar Jadhav, Shikhar Dhawan and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar were among the ones who wished Karthik.

Ishant Sharma had a good time with his wife Pratima Singh and other members of his family. Carlos Brathwaite was over the moon after the Windies’ seven-wicket victory over Pakistan at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Wriddhiman Saha posted a picture along with his daughter.
