Indian cricketer Shubman Gill received his maiden Test call-up for the series against South Africa. Thus, there were a few cricketing trends that revolved around him. Ravichandran Ashwin, Rahul Sharma amongst many other cricketers congratulated him on the achievement. The 20-year-old, himself, tweeted that it is always an honour to represent the country. On the other hand, Sheldon Jackson seemed dejected after yet another snub despite performing well in the domestic circuit.
Shikhar Dhawan, with some of the other Indian cricketers, attended the renaming ceremony of the Feroz Shah Kotla. He tweeted that he was honoured to be at the venue and also congratulated Virat Kohli for getting a stand named after him. There were a few other trends that revolved around the toss of the fifth Ashes Test between Australia and England. Daniel Christian and Michael Vaughan expressed their opinions. Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz tweeted that he decided to take a break from red-ball cricket to focus on his fitness.
