The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the Super Four encounters in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. India faced Bangladesh while Pakistan and Afghanistan locked horns in Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively. The Men in Blue were exceptional with the ball today and the comeback man Ravindra Jadeja announced his return to ODI cricket with a four-wicket haul as India restricted Bangladesh for a meagre total of 173 runs.
Meanwhile, the cricketing fraternity was also busy in wishing Chris Gayle who is celebrating his 39th birthday today. He is loved all over the world and it was visible on social media today with the wishes pouring in for him. Most of the Indian cricketers wished him by referring him as ‘Universe Boss’. He is expected to play until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and will be itching to make it big given that he has been a legend for his country.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, batted beautifully after opting to bat first and this time around, Hashmatullah Shahidi didn’t give it away today. Like yesterday, the left-hander batted patiently and once he got to his half-century and then opened his arms to remain unbeaten on 97 as Afghanistan finished on 258 runs after 50 overs. While Aakash Chopra hailed them for their approach, many lambasted Pakistan for their lacklustre fielding as they dropped catches and misfielded.
